Katie and I actually grew up together. We swam on the same swim team, (Go Sherwood Dolphins!) and spent our childhood summers baking at the pool from 8am to 8pm every day. I think all of the kids in our group would agree, it was a pretty awesome part of our childhood.
Katie and I kept up with each other on Facebook over the years, and when I got her message about wanting to hire me as her wedding photographer, I was super stoked! What an honor!?
The day started out at El Torreon with separate rooms for the bride and her bridal party and the groom and his groomsmen. I love when both parties are able to get ready at the same place because it allows me to hop back and forth between the bride and groom and get lots of fun stuff (and the emotional stuff) on camera.
Once both Katie and Cory were ready, I set up their first look on the side of the building, and it was one of the most emotional moments I've ever witnessed. PHOTO GOLD! After the first look, their wedding party joined them, and we celebrated with some rap music. Thank you, portable speaker.
With a wedding party dressed to the nines, we hit up all the iconic Kansas City Wedding Photography destinations. I'm talking Liberty Memorial, Loose Park, the Made in KC mural, and a few others on our way to the church, Country Club Christian Church.
Have you seen this church!? Holy moly, it's breathtaking! I'm a sucker for fancy churches, and this one just so happens to have a lot of my favorite color, red. If you're wanting your ceremony to take place in a church, you should definitely check this place out.
After the ceremony, things got pretty hype in the party bus which is the same vibe the reception carried. In all, it was a fantastic night, and it was such a good time seeing a long time friend find a man as great as she deserves. Katie and Cory, I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!
